The Australian Fashion Institute is building a new era of fashion education. Our resources are designed to help you learn real industry skills, time-saving techniques, and insider knowledge to bring your ideas to life.
You can use our patterns for both personal and commercial projects, from building your own wardrobe to launching a made-to-order brand.

Not at all. Our patterns and courses are designed to be accessible for every level, from complete beginners to emerging designers. You’ll just need a basic understanding of sewing to get started. Each resource is created to help you grow your confidence, refine your technique, and bring your creative ideas to life, one project at a time.

Absolutely. Unlike most patternmakers, the Australian Fashion Institute grants both personal and commercial use of our patterns. You’re free to use them to build your portfolio, create made-to-order pieces, or launch your own label. Our goal is to support your growth as a designer, whether you’re sewing for yourself or building a brand from the ground up.

Our PDF sewing patterns are available in a wide range of sizes, from 6 to 18 (AUD), with cup sizes A–F. We’ll also teach you how to adjust each pattern to achieve a custom fit based on your unique measurements. While some designs may be limited to specific size ranges, our focus is always on helping you create garments that fit and flatter your individual shape.

Absolutely! Our patterns are designed to be a foundation for your creativity, you can modify, mix, and reshape them to bring your own ideas to life.
And soon, we’ll be launching dedicated pattern-making classes to guide you step-by-step through adjusting patterns and developing your own signature designs.

No, our courses are not formally accredited by any government or educational body. The Australian Fashion Institute is an independent education platform created to deliver practical, industry-relevant skills without the barriers of traditional fashion school.
Our focus is on real-world application, not expensive degrees. Whether you’re launching your own label, designing and sewing your own clothes, or stepping into fashion for the first time, our training is built to give you the tools, techniques, and confidence to move forward, without large tuition fees or outdated curriculums.

You’ll need access to a computer or tablet with a stable internet connection to download and view your patterns.
To print them, for best results, we recommend having your patterns printed professionally in A0 size at your local print shop. This gives you a full-scale layout that’s easier to work with and ensures accuracy when cutting and sewing. No special software is required, just Adobe Acrobat (free) to open your PDF files.
